Environmental Impact Report

Beach Cities Health District (BCHD) is preparing an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) as the Lead Agency for the BCHD Healthy Living Campus Master Plan (Project) as required by the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). The process started with five scoping meetings in July 2019 and environmental analyses for the Draft EIR. Learn more about the EIR process.

In June 2019, BCHD began preparing an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the Healthy Living Campus as required by the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). The process started with five scoping meetings in July 2019 and environmental analyses for the Draft EIR. 

Draft EIR Review and Comment Period: March 10 – June 10, 2021
All official Draft EIR public comments received by the June 10 deadline will be included and responded to in the final Environmental Impact Report.  Draft EIR comments address the technical sufficiency of the impact analysis, mitigation measures and alternatives. There are numerous methods to submit comments, including:

Public comments at the March 24 meeting will begin following the Draft EIR presentation by Wood Environment at the regularly scheduled BCHD Board of Directors meeting. The Draft EIR document will be posted on March 10.

Notice of Preparation 
A Notice of Preparation (NOP) has been issued to inform interested members of the public, trustee agencies, responsible agencies, and other public agencies that an EIR is being prepared. The NOP provides information describing the proposed Project and its potential environmental impacts to those who wish to comment regarding the scope and content of the information to be included in the EIR.

Comments
The public review period for the NOP extended from June 27, 2019 to July 29, 2019 and is now closed. Comments received are reviewed and used to determine the scope of the EIR.
